Perogies and puzzled looks

About the blog

I might as well lay out this blog’s mission statement: So here goes:

Perogies and puzzled looks, or ninehoursahead, will serve as a writing outlet where I can record my thoughts, impressions and memories of the trip to come. Since a chief goal of this trip, beyond travel and everything that comes with it, is to broaden my freelance writing portfolio, this will serve as a resource from which I can draw when writing later. It will serve as my personal mouthpiece on anything and everything I feel to write about, and will give me a platform to offend, provoke and maybe humour anyone who stumbles over it. Maybe I can even put the word “blogger” on my resume.

Previously, I used this blog to document my travels through Europe and while living in Poland. Now that I’ve set up shop in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, I’ll be using as a general receptacle for thoughts and observations. Vancouver may be just a couple hours from the small cities where I’ve spent most of my life but it is quite different, sometimes in good ways, sometimes in teeth-gnashing frustrating ways.

To contact me, email me at tyolsen(at)gmail.com.

This hopefully will also serve as a means to try and sell myself to potential clients. If you know a magazine or newspaper editor (outside of Vernon), pester them to get a hold of me and pay me some money. I take dollars, kuna, zloty, euro, pounds, heck, I’ll even take Zimbabwe billion dollar notes.

Well, that was about as entertaining as you would expect a mission statement to be, wasn’t it?

Oh, and for the record, all the photography, unless otherwise stated, is mine. That means it is copyrighted, as is all writing on this site. Steal it at your own peril. I have larger images of all those photos posted on this site. If you would like to buy one, feel free to contact me.
